This is because in the past, the production of non-stick coating used perfluorooctanoic acid, which attributed carcinogenic properties. However, over time, this substance was discarded as part of the non-stick coating. So all modern cookware with non-stick coating is safe, and there are no proven harmful effects on the human body.
If the non-stick coating is thicker, it is more durable and lasts longer. Many manufacturers apply it in several layers. Depending on the type of non-stick coating, the maximum number of layers is 5, and the minimum thickness should be at least 20 microns.
There are the following types of non-stick coatings:

PTFE coating. It is the most common and inexpensive coating, and it has a distinctive black color, which can be used for cookware of aluminum, steel, cast iron. With careful handling, it will last for several years. The only disadvantage of PTFE is that the material is sensitive to mechanical damage, so you should use plastic or wooden kitchen utensils when cooking.

Marble (granite) coating. It is made with the addition of marble or granite crumbs, which makes cookware durable and long-lasting. In contrast to the PTFE coating, it heats faster and retains heat longer, with prolonged service life.
- Titanium coating. It is the most durable coating available on the market. It uses titanium oxide, which has high thermal conductivity. Titanium coating is mechanically resistant, and you can use metal utensils without any fear of harming the surface. You can cook without using oil. The service life of titanium coating lasts for decades.
