YOUR BEST MENU FOR THE VETERANS’ DAY 2022

The 11th of November is a very important day for the United States and its citizens. Every year, on this exact day, we show how much we appreciate the service of more than 17 million veterans, who are still with us, and thousands of those who have already passed away. Veterans’ Day is the way to say “thank you” to all the military people who sacrificed their lives for the future of the United States.

Traditions of the Veterans’ Day
The day has significant importance in our culture that’s why it’s important to honor veterans and their big contributions. Usually, people do this by showing up and thanking publicly. This is a great initiative that shows how much society cares about the veterans and their loyal service to the country.

Veterans’ Day has a so influential social impact that the biggest national brands devote their entire marketing campaigns to this day. In many cases, this is not bad because many responsible businesses encourage people to donate to veterans and start social campaigns to improve the understanding of this holiday among young generations.

In addition to showing up, people have one more tradition – to write letters or visit veterans in hospitals. This is the easiest way to say thank you in person.

Here comes an important thing we all should understand - this day is to honor veterans, it’s not a time for tears, it’s time to say “thank you”. That’s why we shouldn’t refuse to celebrate it at home by simply having a tasty meal. Isn’t this a good idea? We guess that yes! That’s why, to make you ready for this big day (that is coming up soon!),  we would like to give you several ideas for Veterans’ Day 2022 meals.

Remember, the tastiest meal is the one prepared with love. So, see the recipes and do your best to make the Veterans’ Day celebration unforgettable.

Red, White, and Blue Shooter
Let’s start with the best drink for Veterans’ Day 2022. The Red, White, and Blue Shooter is a simple cocktail that consists of the colors of the US national flag. The recipe is quite simple, so you will cope with it even without special bartending skills. These colorful strips are created very easily – you just carefully lay grenadine, white crème de cacao, and blue curaçao. You don’t even need to use some special equipment. However, remember to keep this drink cooled by adding some grinded ice. It will help to preserve the fresh and sweet taste of the cocktail.

US Navy Potatoes

This day is all about military people and it would be quite logical if you prepare some army food on Veterans’ Day this year. It’s very tasty and it would be nice to devote your menu to this date. Besides, army recipes are quite simple and don’t require many components or special equipment. For example, you might taste the US Navy Potatoes. This is a perfect appetizer that helped a lot of US Navy soldiers to fight hunger on the WWII battlefields. It takes only 30 minutes to cook this meal.

To prepare this dish, you don’t need a lot of ingredients – just large potatoes, butter, flour, salt, and black pepper. At first, after peeling potatoes, you divide them into quarters lengthwise. Then, you dip the pieces into the mixture of melted butter, flour, salt, and black pepper. Finally, put all the into a preheated oven and wait for 30-40 minutes. You can dip the potatoes into sour cream or any other tasty sauce you like.

Porterhouse Steak with Herbed Butter

It wouldn’t be a military holiday without a tasty steak. If you agree with this, add the Porterhouse Steak with Herbed Butter to your Veterans’ Day food menu. In total, it takes around 40 minutes to fully prepare this steak. Trust us, this is a worthy amount of time to pay for such a delicious dish!

You should start by preparing the Herbed Butter.

  1. To do this, put ¼ cup of chopped mixed fresh chives, thyme leaves, marjoram leaves, and  ½ of unsalted butter and stir them together using a wooden spoon.

  2. To make the flavor spicier, you can add some salt and black pepper.

  3. Finally, you put this mixture in ramekins and place everything in your fridge.

  4. Then, after cooking a steak in a pan until it’s brown and crusted (it takes up to 5 minutes), you take your herbed butter mixture and put melt 1 spoon of this mixture in a pan.

  5. After this, put your steak in a preheated oven of 125°F for around 5 minutes.

Our recommendation is not to cook steaks in pans and baking sheets that have a special non-stick coating. As we mentioned above, you should prepare this steak in a preheated pan and oven. This will provide the right texture and that juicy flavor, which is just magnificent when combined with herbed butter. Kitchen appliances with non-stick coating might be more vulnerable to high temperatures.

DoughnutsOf course, some desserts should be on your table during the Veterans Day 2022 celebration. If you think a bit about desserts, what will first come to your mind? What is the most popular sweet food in the United States? We have no doubt that these are doughnuts! This wouldn’t be an American holiday without them on a feast table. That is the reason why you should know how to prepare the best doughnuts. Consider these several helping tips from us to make sure your guests won’t be disappointed with the desserts on your table.

        • Don’t be too focused on mixing. To make the best doughnuts, you should make sure that you don’t overmix. To get the necessary texture, you should mix until the components of the dough are consistently combined.
        •
        • Learn how to cut your doughnuts. To give them the best shape, use round cutters. Also, make sure that the dough doesn’t stick to your cutters. You can avoid this by dipping them into flour from time to time.

        • Don’t use old oil when frying your doughnuts. Although it might be more expensive to use new oil each time, be sure that you will taste the difference.

        • Uncooked doughnuts shouldn’t get warm. Before frying them, it’s better to keep them in a cold space because this will preserve the dough.

          Final Word: Honor your Veterans!

Remember that this holiday is not Memorial Day, it’s not for crying your eye outs, it’s for honoring the veterans who are still with us, and it’s about celebrating and expressing your gratitude to people who loyally served your country. Always keep this in your head and remember what they came through for the sake of the happy future of younger generations. Happy Veterans Day!
